Kansai University

Kansai University was founded in 1886 and has become one of Japan's most distinguished universities. The University is located in Osaka, the central hub of industry and commerce in Japan. Kansai University has seven faculties: Law, Letters, Economics, Commerce, Sociology, Informatics, Engineering and one institute: the Institute of Foreign Language Education and Research. The total number of our undergraduate students is approximately 28,000.

During our history of more than one hundred fifteen years, our university has produced prominent leaders in such fields as business, government, law, culture, education, science and technology. We also have graduate courses growing out of the above faculties and institute, with approximately 1,500 graduate students. The goal of the Graduate School is to produce specialized researchers and professional persons in each field.

As characteristics of research and education in Kansai University, our starting point is to harmonize the relationship between theory and social practice, not simply to master purely academic theory.

Most people accept the importance of "internationalisation". I strongly believe, however, that the meaning of "internationalisation" should be shifted from the pursuit of harmonization of differences among international rules to an attempt to create common rules acceptable to all people on earth, in this 21st century.

Kansai University has been making great efforts to deepen international understanding and to promote academic exchanges with institutions abroad for the past 20 years. At present, we have academic exchange agreements with 17 universities in Asia, the USA, Europe and Australia.

Kansai University welcomes many students from all over the world to study and do research from such a global point of view. We promise to support and help students develop their potential and achieve their goals, and spend their time here as fruitfully as possible.
