The Yamasa Institute

Recognition

The Yamasa Institute is a fully accredited member of the APJLE (membership number B302), and has pushed for improved standards in Japanese language education for many years.

The Yamasa Institute is an Edutraveller partner institution, and Edutraveller recommends the school for the high quality of its programs and teaching.

The following is a summary of the school: see each section for full details by clicking the links below or use the menu on the left to navigate.

Location

Yamasa is located virtually in the very center of Japan, aproximatelly halfway between Tokyo and Osaka, next to the Japanese third biggest city, Nagoya. It take only 30 minutes by train to reach Nagoya. From JR Okazaki station (Tokaido line) you will be at school in only 8 minutes by foot.

Facilities

The Aichi Center for Japanese Studies is a specialist center for Japanese language education and research. The campus is considerably larger than most of the other accredited institutes in Japan (especially those in Tokyo) and the facilities in each building are more modern than most Japanese universities. Compared to virtually all Japanese academic institutions, the unusual feature about Yamasa's campus is the large amount of space available per student - not only in the classrooms but for all ancillary services. Yamasa is also already one of the best campuses in Japan for internet connectivity and modern IT infrastructure. Our Local Area Network can connect you to the internet from anywhere on campus and computers are provided.

Courses

We offer classes at all levels from foundation courses for the absolute beginner through to advanced programs for students requiring high levels of proficiency for professional careers or Japanese universities & graduate schools. You can study from just 4 weeks to as long as 2 years. No Institute offers more course options, flexibility, quality or affordability than Yamasa.

Accommodation

We have our accommodation. For students at Yamasa, there are a number of options in Student Housing as well as the Homestay Program. Not only is it possible to choose from a wide range of options, it is also possible to choose a combination of options all carefully managed by our full time Housing Office staff.

Staff

All staff are of course qualified native speakers, and have experience teaching a wide range of nationalities.
