As one of Japan's preeminent universities, Nagoya University has consistently performed a leading role in education and research. We believe this is a reflection of the efforts of countless people, both on-and off-campus, who have shared our vision to develop and enhance the quality of this institution.
While the successful initiatives of our predecessors continue to form the foundation of Nagoya University, the need to adapt to the various advances of recent years is also self-evident. Indeed, the increasing sophistication of research, the interdisciplinary orientation of education, the expansion of globalisation and the "information highway" have resulted in a wave of internal reforms.
These reforms have promoted graduate education and an improved the level of interaction and integration in our university community.
We, at Nagoya University, will persist with our mission to contribute to the well-being of the world and mankind as a whole, and will endeavour to enhance the standard of education and research at this university.
