Short term programs at the Naganuma School
Naganuma has a range of short-term courses for study in Tokyo. These include short-term programs for general study all year round, and also programs aimed at business professionals. The courses are available all year round, and you can choose from morning, afternoon, evening and weekend lessons in most cases.
Business Japanese Program For Working Adults
Admission procedures including Saturday classes available with adequate number of applicants. The Naganuma School business program is specially designed to help busy working adults to learn Japanese rapidly and in a systematic manner. Class sizes are kept to a minimum (4-7 students per class), and a placement interview ensures that students will be placed in the appropriate level. Students may also choose to take a proficiency exam at the end of each term.
Course options
- Option 1: Two days per week (Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday)
- 90 minutes x 13 classes + proficiency test
- The level-specific curriculum focuses on both "difficult to understand" and "important to learn" Japanese
- Option 2: Saturday (half-day class)
- 180 minutes x 6.5 classes + proficiency test
- The same subjects covered in Option 1 will be covered in a class on Saturday
- Option 3: Five days per week (Monday to Friday)
- 90 minutes x 35 classes + proficiency test
- Students will learn both basic and practical Japanese in a systematic manner
- Option 4: Special class held two days per week (Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Wednesday)
- 90 minutes x 13 classes + proficiency test
- Class curriculum is tailored to students needs, and may include the study of keigo (honorific Japanese), reading/writing Japanese characters, and giving presentations.

- Early morning class: 8:30 - 10:00
- Afternoon class: 16:30 - 18:00
- Night class: 19:00 - 20:30
- Saturday (half-day) class: 9:00 - 12:30
Private tuition
Naganuma can arrange for private lessons either at the school or off-campus. As a rule, lessons are conducted between 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on weekday evenings. The location, timing and content of classes can be decided in consultation with the school. If you would like to arrange a private course, please contact us with your requirements. Off-campus lessons are usually conducted at the client's place of work, and travel expenses are charged extra.
Fees
All class fees are per 45-minute lesson. There is a 21,000 yen enrollment fee.
- Private tuition (1 person): 6,300 yen
- Semi-private tuition (2 people): 4,200 yen
- Semi-private tuition (3+ people): 3,150 yen
5% Consumption tax included in the above prices. Textbooks and other materials are charged separately.
Payment methods
Lessons can be paid for in cash at the school office, or by transfer to our account. To ensure that we can trace your transfer easily, please make sure that your name is on the transfer. Tuition fees for private and semi-private lessons are not refunded once paid, but in some cases lessons may be rescheduled.
Cancellations: Lessons cancelled on the same day are charged at the full rate. In other cases, lessons may be rescheduled on consulation with the school.
